Florida judge makes unusual ruling in divorce case

No matter how amicable a divorce may be, any children involved in a split may end up with some level of emotional distress from the situation. When parents choose to divorce, often their main concern is the well-being of their children. With this in mind, they do their best to work things out quickly, divide up their assets and move on peacefully. But what happens when the court system intervenes and makes decisions in regards to their children that neither parent is pushing for?

Are unconscious feelings predictors of future marital happiness?

It's safe to say that pretty much every person has at one time thought one thing, yet said another thing in any given situation. This seems to ring especially true when it comes to marriage. Emotions and expectations: dealing with divorce in your 20s

While some life events, such as having children or buying a retirement home, are often tied to certain age ranges, divorce doesn’t discriminate. For both old and young, divorce sometimes feels like the end of a certain expectation or dream that a person had for their life.

During the best parts of marriage, a lot of people would consider their spouse to be their best friend. When the possibility of divorce comes into the picture, spouses would understandably hope that no matter the reasons for the split, both individuals can remain friendly throughout the process. But most people can agree that divorce can bring out the worst in people, so it is important to stay positive, yet cautious.

Divorce can bring teachable moments for children

As we discussed in our last post, sometimes parents fear bringing up the topic of divorce, especially during the holiday season, because they don't want to disappoint their children. Although divorce can undoubtedly be difficult for children, it can also lead to a lot of positive life lessons.

Dealing with the stress of waiting out the holidays to divorce

The beginning of the year brings a rush of divorces, but typically it's not because a spouse suddenly had a change of heart. In a lot of cases, an individual has been planning to divorce for quite a while and may just be waiting out the holiday season to do so.
